Scott W Langman is a 28 year old aspiring
"rock star"
from
Regina, SK., Canada. His
musical genre of choice has developed over the years to become quite "emo"ish
("emo" = the new "in" thing for alternative rock--see Dashboard
Confessional, Jimmy Eat World). He
prides himself on being able to write solid songs,
possibly catchy, possibly
intriguing, possibly unusual... possibly hits some day. As a
musician, Scott is well aware of his limitations. Vocally, he's
inconsistent but developing. As a guitarist, he's sloppy but
energetic. He relies on his instincts as to what guitar chords
work with a melody, rather than creating techn ically
impressive riffs that distract from the meat of a song. Scott's
hope for the future includes him finding a band that's a good
match and getting up on stage and entertaining a
group of soon-to-be-fans. Up until recently, Scott's introverted
nature has limited his musical development, as even his family
was
hardly aware of the number and nature of many of his songs. He
feels that he has come along
way in that regard since 2001, and he looks forward
to observing the reactions to his music by an unsuspecting audience.
Scott is a huge fan of many
musicians, but he ranks Ty Tabor of King's X as his favourite, and he
finds that many of
his songs come out sounding quite Ty-ish. He's also a big fan of
the uniquely Canadian and unendingly bizarre Rheostatics, and finds their influences
creeping in as well. And he was doing the Dashboard Confessional
thing before he knew there was a Dashboard Confessional (but he
freely acknowledges that Chris Carrabba is doing it better).
When not playing music, Scott is an
electrical engineer with SaskPower. He is married with pets. |
